Lo scorso Giovedì 20 Ottobre è stata inaugurata a Monaco di Baviera la mostra sui progetti premiati alle recenti edizioni del premio Internazionale Architettura sostenibile. lo splendido edificio dell’Oskar von Miller Forum ha ospitato prima dell’ufficiale apertura dell’esposizione una conferenza del prof. Thomas Herzog da quattro anni alla guida del riconoscimento internazionale voluto dalla Facoltà di architettura di Ferrara e da Fassa Bortolo.
Thomas Herzog ha raggiunto la fama internazionale nel 1979 attraverso la progettazione di un complesso residenziale attrezzato per utilizzare l’energia solare a Ratisbona. L’utilizzo di energie pulite, l’applicazione di materiali da costruzione rinnovabili e la creazione di piacevoli ambienti interni utilizzando naturali principi di forma hanno fatto divenire Herzog uno dei pionieri dell’edilizia sostenibile. Uno degli edifici più recenti di Thomas Herzog è il Forum di Oskar von Miller, che è stato completato nel 2009. Orientato verso il futuro metodi per l’uso di energie ambientali, l’applicazione innovativa di materiali e tecnologie, nonché il perseguimento di un elevato standard di qualità d’uso sono stati i fattori cardine di un design assolutamente convincente.

Oltre che per la sua opera architettonica Thomas Herzog è anche ben conosciuto come un eccellente docente universitario.
Dopo cattedre a Kassel, Darmstadt e al Politecnico di Monaco, è stato professore ospite in Europa e negli Stati Uniti e presso l’Università Tsinghua di Pechino, dove insegna “Architettura verde” da diversi anni.
